Automotus makes Fast Company’s 2022 Best Workplaces for Innovators in Sustainability list

The fourth annual list recognizes Automotus alongside Kohler, Nestlé USA, T-Mobile and others.

Fast Company today announced its fourth annual Best Workplaces for Innovators list, honoring organizations and businesses that demonstrate a steadfast commitment to encouraging innovation at all levels. Automotus was recognized as a finalist in the sustainability category for its efforts to pursue innovative products and internal strategies that help to incentivize commercial vehicle electrification in cities.

Developed in collaboration with Accenture, the 2022 Best Workplaces for Innovators ranks 100 winners from a variety of industries, including computer science, biotech, consumer packaged goods, nonprofit, education, financial services, cybersecurity, engineering, diversity, sustainability, B2B, and consumer products and services. Fast Company editors and Accenture researchers worked together to score nearly 1,500 applications, and a panel of eight eminent judges reviewed and endorsed the top 100 companies. The 2022 awards feature workplaces from around the world.

"Sustainability has always been at the core of our team's mission, but the ways in which we tackle our industry's climate challenges have greatly evolved thanks to the creativity and passion of our employees," said Automotus CEO Jordan Justus. "Our team's commitment to open collaboration has become the catalyst for innovation at Automotus, and will continue to drive the efforts that can transform how cities adapt to electric vehicles."

Automotus has played a key role in deploying the nation's first Zero Emissions Delivery Zones (ZEDZ) in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, CA to incentivize commercial EV adoption through discounted pricing models at the curb. This work recently prompted a nearly $4 million grant from the US Department of Energy to pursue the ZEDZ concept more broadly alongside partner organizations, including the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, a fellow finalist on the FastCo sustainability list.

In addition to hiring an inclusive and dedicated team of employees, Automotus has brought on many advisors who share its passion for sustainability, including UN Climate Action Lead Richa Sahay and mobility policy & equity expert Sahar Shirazi. The team is continuing to expand; open positions can be found here.

“This year’s list of the Best Workplaces for Innovators recognizes organizations that have demonstrated a deep commitment to cultivating creativity across the board,” says Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “In the face of powerful headwinds, these leaders and teams continue to spur innovation.”
